Making the decision to buy one of these scooters is the easy part. Knowing which one to buy is the hard part. Fear not – our guide will help you find the perfect scooter for you.
What’s the best self balancing scooter?
We’ll share our top five picks along with our best self balancing scooter review below.
With a sleek, bright blue color, both kids and adults are sure to love EROVER’s hands free Segway. This self-balancing scooter features two wheels and can reach top speeds of 10 MPH. Bright blue LED lights in the front of the scooter add an extra level of safety, and this scooter is available in two fun patterns. With 15° climbing and 0° corner, this scooter is in a class all its own.
Why is the EROVER our number one pick? Let’s find out.
Easy To Use
We love the EROVER scooter because it’s so easy to use. In just three simple steps, you will be up and running.
- Turn the power switch on.
- Step 1 foot onto the foot trigger. This will activate the self-balancing control.
- Place the other foot onto the scooter to begin operation.
Once you’re on the scooter, you can take control by moving forward or backwards, or left or right. Just take care not to move your body too violently.
Designed for users aged 14 and up, EROVER’s scooter is easy for anyone to use. Don’t get me wrong, it takes a few minutes to get the hang of using this scooter, but it will quickly become second nature.
With the platform height at 110 mm, it’s easy to get on and off this scooter, and it’s equally easy to find your balance and navigate your way around.
The EROVER scooter is highly portable. With just two wheels and pads for your feet, this scooter is more like a skateboard than a full-size Segway. It’s still a little on the heavy side at 23 pounds, but is small and lightweight enough to take with you on the go.
Going the Distance
Like other self-balancing scooters, the EROVER can go a maximum distance of about 15 miles on a full charge. You may get more miles if you are traveling on a flat surface, but fewer miles if you are traveling on a bumpy sidewalk.
Plus, this scooter can reach a maximum speed of 10 MPH in just seconds.
All in all, you’ll get about 1 to 2 hours of use before you need to recharge.
With a tire size of 170 mm, the EROVER offers a better overall riding experience and reduces friction significantly.
High Weight Capacity
The EROVER is a scooter that both kids and adults can use thanks to its high weight capacity. A minimum weight of 44 pounds is required to operate the scooter, and it can withstand up to 220 pounds. Whether you want to use this scooter to ride around the neighborhood, or join the kids at the park, this is a scooter that the whole family can use.
Quick Charging Time
With 1 to 2 hours of use on a full charge, the EROVER lets you travel up to 15 miles before you need to recharge. That’s quite a long distance. And when it’s time to recharge, it will take just 30 minutes to charge the battery to 80%. It takes just under an hour to fully recharge, which means you’ll be back up and running in no time.
No matter your age or skill level, you’re sure to love the EROVER scooter.

2. RIO RAND
RIO RAND markets their scooter as an energy efficient and environmentally friendly form of personal transportation. Whether you’re driving home from the subway station or heading out to the local park, this scooter can help you get there quickly and without harming the environment in the process.
The RIO RAND is our number two pick because it weighs a little more and comes at a higher price than the EROVER scooter. But we still love the way that the scooter operates, and the variety of colors that it comes in.
The RIO RAND can reach top speeds of 10 mph in just seconds. The average person being able to walk 3 mph, this scooter will get you ready to go quickly and safely.
Like the EROVER, this scooter offers 15° climbing and 0° corner thanks to its sleek design.
12 Miles on a Single Charge
With a 12 mile range on a single charge, you can get to your destination without having to stop to recharge. And if you do need to recharge the battery, you’ll only need to wait 90 minutes.
With such a quick recharge time, this scooter is ideal for getting to work or school. Simply recharge before you go home, and enjoy an environmentally-friendly way to commute.
Take With You on the Go
The RIO RAND scooter is highly portable and weighs just 27 pounds. You can easily take it with you on the go for a quick and simple way to get where you need to go.
At 15 inches long, 18 inches high and 6.4 inches tall, this 2 wheel self balancing scooter isn’t much bigger than your average skateboard, and can easily be transported around in a carrying bag.
The RIO RAND has a maximum user weight of 220 pounds, which means that the whole family can enjoy using this scooter.
We loved this scooter because it was so easy to use and is available in four fun colors: blue, green, red, white, black.

Leray’s 2 wheel electric scooter is affordably priced and can travel up to 15 km on a horizontal surface. It’s not quite as speedy as the RIO RAND or the EROVER, but at such an affordable price, this scooter makes an excellent choice for kids.
What did we like about the Leray? Just take a look at its long list of impressive specs.
Leray Self Balancing Scooter Specs
- 3 Gyro sensors
- 3 accelerometers
- 8 km/h speeds
- 15° climbing
- 220 pound capacity
- 70% braking efficiency
- Two drive modes
- One hour charging time
As you can see, this scooter doesn’t travel quite as fast as the other models we reviewed. But it can cover just about the same distance on a single charge. The 70% braking efficiency makes this scooter safer and easier to use, and the addition of LED lights on front of the scooter ensure that you can safely ride the scooter even at night.
The Leray scooter uses the Leray Smart Walker system and offers two drive modes: two-way direct drive, and dual-wheel. One mode is for experienced riders, while the other is for beginners.
Scooter works great on flat surfaces, such as hardwood floors and asphalt. It works fine on carpet, too, but can damage it over time. The only gripe we had with the scooter is that it doesn’t work as well on grass. It does okay when grass blades are short, but is unreliable in longer grass. It doesn’t work well on gravel either, but this is to be expected with any self balancing electric scooter.
Overall, the Leray is a fun scooter that’s perfect for recreational use or for riding around local streets and parks.

4. Skque® 6.5
Looking for a 2 wheel electric scooter that’s self balancing and features a Bluetooth speaker? The Skque 6.5 is the right choice for you. This advanced scooter features LED lights on the side and an advanced Bluetooth speaker, so you can listen to your favorite music while you ride. Available in five fun colors, this is one of our favorite self balancing scooters.
With such unique features, it’s hard to imagine that we’d rate this scooter number four. But this model comes at a higher price and moves at a much slower speed than the previous models we’ve reviewed.
While adults can use this scooter, it was designed primarily for kids.
That said, there are lots of things that we love about this scooter.
Distance and Speed
The Skque 6.5 can travel a maximum distance of 15 miles on a single charge, and can travel up to 6.2 mph. While it can go the same distance of the other models we’ve reviewed, it’s not quite as quick. This makes a great choice for kids as parents can keep track of where their child is riding.
Can Ride Just About Anywhere
One of the great things about this new design is that you can ride just about anywhere – even in narrow spaces. Its turning radius is zero, which allows it to be used in extremely narrow spaces. You can even stand still on the board and turn 360° right on the spot. Motors can be controlled with both feet or individually, so you can make turns with ease.
Braking is smooth as is acceleration, so kids can enjoy a safe and fun ride.
Quick Recharge Time
With a recharge time of just 1 to 2 hours, you’ll be back up and running in no time. This scooter features a 158W, 44000mAh battery pack, which gives you enough juice to travel 11 to 15 miles without having to recharge.
And this scooter needs such a high-capacity battery to accommodate its powerful 500 W motor. Actually, the Skque 6.5 uses two 250 W motors, for a total of 500 W of power.
Bluetooth Speaker and Wireless Remote
One of the most unique features about this scooter is its Bluetooth speaker, which allows you to play music using your Bluetooth enabled phone. Kids will love this feature because they can listen to their favorite music as they ride along.
And with a wireless remote control, you can easily turn the speaker and the scooter on and off.
LED Lights and Colors
The Skque 6.5 has built-in LED lights on both wheels, so you can safely ride at night. Plus, it comes in five fun colors: purple/yellow, orange/black, blue/yellow, red/black, and white/blue.
We love just about everything this scooter offers, but were a little disappointed in its speed. Skque more than made up for this with the addition of the Bluetooth speaker, LED lights and wireless remote.

5. WONFAST® 6inch
Like the Skque 6.5, the WONFAST scooter also offers Bluetooth speakers and LED lights. These are two of the top self balancing scooter brands that offer these two unique features, and both kids and adults will love them.
The WONFAST can cover 12 miles on a single charge at speeds of up to 6 mph. While this scooter is faster than the previous model, it’s still a bit slower than the first 2 miles reviewed. But it can cover the same distance, and offers a higher max riding angle (30°).
This model does have a longer charging time of 2 to 3 hours, but does come with other features that more than make up for this long recharge time.
The WONFAST self balancing scooter’s weight limit is 264 pounds, which is significantly higher than average.
Like other self balancing scooters, this model allows you to control movement using your body posture. Controls are easy to use, and LED lights let you safely ride at night.
Naturally, the feature that we loved most about this scooter was the Bluetooth speaker. We were able to ride along while listening to our favorite music, and the speakers were surprisingly good. This scooter has a 4.0 Bluetooth chip, which is the most advanced chip available.
One good thing about this scooter is that it actually has a waterproof level of IP54, which means it won’t get damaged if you happen to accidentally ride through a puddle.
While the WONFAST isn’t our top pick, it’s still one of the top selling self balancing scooters on the market. And the additional Bluetooth speaker makes this scooter fun to ride.
